Olivia’s First Easter Dress

This year was my first year to have a Princess of my very own to dress for Easter. I had so much fun planning and making her dress. It was agonizing trying to decide exactly what it would look like. Smocked was a given, but the color and design took me forever to decide.

I had seriously considered a very Eastery-themed dress with bunnies and Easter eggs, but my love of English smocking and my practicality won out. She’ll be able to wear this dress throughout the rest of spring and through the summer, whereas Easter eggs would have shortened the length of time she could wear it.

Here is what I finally decided on. I was very pleased with how it turned out. I used pink batiste and drew my inspiration for the smocking from Ellen McCarn’s smocking plate “Rebecca” #10023.
