Let the Easter Sewing Begin!!!

Just when we all thought Spring was here, we had two days of freezing temperatures and sleet. Sunday was a humid, warm day almost in the 80’s and when we woke up Monday morning there was ice on our trucks. Texas weather…someone once said that Texas is one of the few places where you can experience all four seasons in the same week.

Inspite of the nasty weather outside, it has looked like Spring in my house.  I’ve started sewing for Easter. This is my first year to have a Princess of my very own to dress and the decisions about her very first Easter dress are proving to be tough for me. Pink or blue, to go with her lovely blue eyes she inherited from her Daddy? Bunnies, lambs, chicks or ducks? I think the only solution will be just to make several dresses and then decide. ;)

I ordered several new smocking plates last week and the suspense and anticipation for them to arrive was almost more than I could bear. I can’t decide which one I want to use first!

I just finished a tiny bishop dress today. A friend requested it to give as a shower gift. The color of the dress isn’t very traditional for a newborn or for Easter, but this is what she asked for.

I used Ellen McCarn’s Little Lambs and Friends plate #10037 as the base. I smocked a basket in the center with a lamb on each side and added extra cable rows to the top and bottom borders.
